Once a picky eater, Nalini now enjoys eating quite a variety of things, as long as they don't look like baby food. In fact, the spicier the better - which is not strange given her background. For a while now, she's been eating just what we eat (she eats from my plate!). Here is a list of Nalini's favorites:
- chicken (an all time number 1!)
- paper (I'm convinced this is her main source of fiber, in spite of my efforts to keep any piece of paper out of her reach, and to increase her consumption of veggies to at least the same rate)
- pizza (so much for healthy eating habits...)
- carrots (she looooves them)
- mexican food (that includes pinto beans and salsa. Carne asada is also a great choice)
- apples (by far her favorite fruit, and a great teething device)
- indian food (the spicy kind)
- japanese food
- bread, and rice (and anything starchy)
- aspargus (particularly when mixed in pasta sauce. In fact, anything mixed in pasta sauce)
- broccoli (if served with pasta sauce or cheese sauce, or chicken broth)
- all squash
- fruits ( watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberries, anything but bananas, to which she is allergic)
- spinach (this one is seasonal - it depends on the week)
- I already mentioned vanilla flavored yogurt, right?
- water (Nalini could spend the whole day sipping on water. At least that is a healthy habit)
Here are the main things that will turn her off:
- pasta
- lettuce
- spinach (once again, depending on the week...)
- eggs
- bananas
- anything that looks and feels like baby food
Her favorite thing in the world is still breastmilk though. And ever since Anna T. mentioned ice cream, she has been working really hard on order to try some. She's convinced she'll love that stuff. Well, she is probably right :).
