Nalini has been trying out her first new words. She knows two: "Da-da", and "Ana". She used to say "Ma-ma", but ever since we returned to Frederick, she now says "Ana", just like Jamila does. And she knows exactly what these words mean: :Da-da" means "I love you Daddy", while "Ana" means: "I need", such as in "I need a fresh diaper", "I need some food", "I need you to pick me up", I need to go to sleep", etc. Many a time during the day, you'll hear her calling through the house: "Ana, Ana, Ana, Ana!"
